TONIGHT: No fireworks expected at council meeting, that was last week

October 24, 2016 by Aaron Lewis 1 Comment

The West University City Council meets tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building at 3800 UniversIty Blvd.
At a meeting last week, the council approved the 2017 budget and set a tax rate to fund that budget.
Tonight’s meeting will likely lack the excitment of the meeting last Monday. In fact, approving last week’s meeting minutes may be the most exciting thing on tonight’s agenda.
Other agenda items being considered tonight include approving road closures for the Chevron Houston Marathon, granting itself a permit to install lights at a park, and appointing West U resident Ann Crowley to the Seniors Board.

George, are you sure Brennan Reilly didn’t introduce another hair-brain scheme with zero support ? Maybe something costing the taxpayers at least 300k or so. Or taxpayers footing someone’s private attorney fees. Maybe encouraging private citizens to sue the city and then putting the taxpayers on the hook for the real defense costs. How about promising to stop (illegally, yes more defense costs) the expansion of WU Baptist in order to get elected. Or blowing up a deal that would have have required the church to add 80 much needed parking spots in the city center. What a waste of a counsel seat.
