The National Weather Service has now issued a tornado warning for Harris and Waller counties with the report of a funnel cloud near The Grand Parkway south of the Cinco Ranch area.

The tornado watch is in effect until 9:45 a.m.

A funnel cloud was reported by law enforcement near the area of Mason Road and The Grand Parkway.

Additionally, Doppler Radar is picking up at least two areas of possible rotation in the Rosenberg area, indicating the possibility of a tornado.

Radar returns also indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing penny-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. Locations in the path of the severe storm include the Bellaire area.

The storm system continues to move east at 25 mph.

If a tornado is spotted, residents are urged to act quickly and move to a place of safety in a sturdy structure such as a basement or small interior room.

Motorists are also asked to use extreme caution on area roadways.
