The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the West U area until 8 p.m. tonight.
The flood watch that was issued by the National Weather Service earlier today remains in effect until 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall may cause elevated water levels on small creeks, streams and bayous, the weather service said.
Ponding of water will occur on highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying areas, the weather service said.
The flash flood watch will also remain in effect through Wednesday morning.
Rainfall should continue through Wednesday and 1 – 2 inches are expected.
Tropical Storm Hermine made landfall Sunday evening in extreme northern Mexico. Hermine is expected to move north across central Texas tonight.
