TUTS Cancels All Performance Through Next Monday

September 18, 2008 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

Theatre Under The Stars has announced that, at the urging of Houston’s city officials and the Houston Police Department, performances of “The Color Purple” scheduled through next Monday have been cancelled.
TUTS said it is cancelling the performances to ensure the safety and security of patrons in the wake of damage from Hurricane Ike in the Theater District.
TUTS also announced that it will make every effort to accommodate ticket holders. At this time, those with tickets for this week’s performances may exchange them for any other show in the 2008 - `09 season, they may donate their tickets back to TUTS as a nonprofit organization and receive a letter certifying the value of the contribution for tax purposes or they may request a refund. For information regarding rescheduling canceled tickets or obtaining ticket refunds, call the TUTS box office at 713-558- TUTS (8887).
TUTS President and CEO John Brackenridge apologized for any inconvenience to ticket holders and thanked them for their support and understanding.
“Houston has been through a lot this week and we look forward to being able to provide a diversion. ‘The Color Purple’ is about overcoming hardship and that message is relevant right now,” Breckenridge said. “We only wish we could have opened sooner.”
