Two Lamar High School students were among 30 Houston Independent School District graduating seniors who received $550,000 in college scholarships this year, as a result of the district winning the prestigious Broad Prize in 2013.

The winning students who enroll in 4-year colleges or universities will receive $20,000 scholarships, or $5,000 per year. Students who enroll in a 2-year college or technical program will receive a $5,000 scholarship, in two $2,500 increments.

The two Lamar graduating seniors who received the scholarships this year were Tae’Shon Rogers and Dearbea Walker.
