Two Lamar Students Solicited On Their Way To School

October 15, 2008 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

Police presence around the Lamar High School campus has been increased after two students, approaching the school from the Alabama side, were solicited inappropriately while on their way to school Oct. 15.
Lamar Principal James McSwain sent out a message to parents via telephone this evening, informing them of the event.
The man, who apparently made inappropriate comments and solicited the students, is described as being in his mid to late twenties, medium build with a dark brown complexion. He was driving a green Jeep Wrangler.
“We do not want to alarm you, but we do want you to be vigilant,” said McSwain. “We ask parents to talk to their kids about being safe on their way to school.”
McSwain said the incident has been reported to the Houston Independent School District Police Department, police presence has been increased around the school and administrative security has been increased on campus.
Anyone who has seen the described vehicle, or who has any information about the incident, is asked to call the HISD Police Department or Lamar, 713-522-5960.
