TWU Asking Community To Join Race For The Cure

September 5, 2008 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

Texas Woman’s University is inviting alumni and the community to join its students, faculty and staff as TWU Pioneers for the Cure during the 2008 Houston Komen Race for the Cure.
The race will be held at 8 a.m. Oct. 4 at Sam Houston Park. To register, click here, click on “Join an Existing Team” and choose the TWU Pioneers for the Cure team. The cost is $30 per participant.
Participants will receive an official race packet from Komen, which will include the Race for the Cure T-shirt. They also will receive a TWU Pioneers for the Cure team T-shirt, which the team will wear at the race.
“This is the first year that TWU is organizing a team of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members for the Houston Komen Race,” said Amy O’Keefe, director of commuter and non-traditional student services at TWU. “We are excited to have the Houston TWU community participate and show the university’s support for breast cancer awareness, prevention and research.”
For the past three years, the TWU Pioneers for the Cure — with team members from the Denton and Dallas campuses — have had the largest education team in the Dallas Komen Race for the Cure.
