Texas Woman¹s University¹s Nelda C. Stark College of Nursing in Houston was recently awarded a $50,000 grant from the Aetna Foundation to address the national nursing shortage.
TWU will use the funds to hire additional adjunct nursing faculty for its Houston campus.
“The Aetna Foundation is known for addressing issues that impact the future of nursing education and nursing care,” said Rebecca Krepper, associate dean of the Stark College of Nursing. “We are grateful to the foundation for its help in allowing us to increase our capacity to educate more new nurses.”
The Aetna Foundation is the independent charitable and philanthropic arm of Aetna Inc.
“We are very concerned about the worsening nursing shortage and are pleased to support TWU¹s efforts to help address the problem,” said Deborah Restum, network management director of Aetna¹s Southwest Region Health Care Management.
