TxDOT to Hold Hearing in Bellaire

May 22, 2015 by Bellaire Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a public hearing for the purpose of presenting the proposed improvements to the US 59 S/I-610 West Interchange, and to receive public comment. TxDOT now refers to US 59 S as (I) 69. The highway is also known as the Southwest Freeway.
The hearing will be held Thursday, June 4, at 5:30 p.m. at the Bellaire Civic Center, located at 7008 S. Rice Ave.
TxDOT had proposed a huge “flyover” ramp at that interchange, but city of Bellaire officials and engineers have been negotiating with TxDOT officials and engineers to keep the reconstruction of the freeway interchange at grade level. The interchange would, however, cause some significant changes for drivers in Bellaire.
Maps and other drawings showing the proposed project’s location and design will be available for viewing at 5:30 p.m., with the formal hearing commencing at 6:30 p.m..
All interested citizens are invited to attend this public meeting. Verbal comments from the public may be presented at the hearing.
Written comments may be submitted for a period of 10 working days following the hearing. Written comments may be submitted in person, by mail to the TxDOT District Office, Director of Project Development, Texas Department of Transportation, P.O. Box 1386, Houston, TX 77251, or by email to HOU-PIOwebMail@txdot.gov. Comments must be received on or before Thursday, June 18, 2015, to become part of the official hearing record.
