Weather alert: Severe weather moving into Houston area this afternoon

Strong storms capable of heavy downpours, wind, hail and even tornadoes are moving into the Houston area from the west and should peak around 3 p.m. Tuesday (March 7), according to the National Weather Service.
The system is part of a cold front that should end by about 7 p.m., leaving behind temperatures in the 50s.
