As part of West U’s commitment to providing free family-friendly entertainment at Colonial Park, the West University Place Parks and Recreation Department has announced the lineup for its annual Outdoor Event Series. This year’s event will cover three Friday evenings in April at Colonial Park, 4130 Byron St. Performances will be held April 5, 12, and 26 beginning at 7 pm.
April 5: Texas Brass Ensemble:
Established in 1991 by trumpeter Darryl Bayer, the Texas Brass is dedicated to concerts in the South East Texas and Houston area. They gained a huge following after multiple years of performing at the Houston International Festival. The group particularly enjoys family-style concerts for Parks and Recreation programs such as this evening. Texas Brass was one of the featured groups in the Rising Stars and Legends of Texas showcase at Creighton Theater in historic downtown Conroe.
April 12: The Crescent Circus:
Husband and wife duo, Nathan Kepner and Morgan Tsu-Raun fuse their expertise in magic and circus arts respectively to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience on stage. Based out of New Orleans, they’ve brought magic, juggling, acrobatics, hula hoop tricks and more to audiences across the country. Their original stage work has earned them six international titles, performances at London’s prestigious Magic Circle Theater and an appearance on The Tonight Show.
April 26: Houston Brass Quintet:
Made up of five Houston-area residents, the “HBQ” presents a repertoire made up of diverse genres- classical, jazz, and a little bit of funk. With a focus on arts education, their favorite audience members are kids – because, as they say, “who else claps, sings and asks the best questions?”
