West U. Elementary School’s opening is still pending, and will not occur Thursday, Sept. 25. The Houston Independent School District expects the school to reopen Monday, Sept. 29.
If the schools still pending still have no power Monday, the district has acquired several large generators that will be used to power the schools until the electricity returns.
At this point, about 200 HISD schools reopened Tuesday, or are scheduled to reopen Thursday, and 93 are still closed.
