West U Police Encourage Residents To Participate In National Night Out

October 1, 2010 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

West U resident Aggie Foster talks with Police Officer Anthony Armendariz about preventing vehicle burglaries, during last year's National Night Out.
West U police are encouraging residents to participate in the 27th annual National Night Out on Oct. 5.
This event encourages neighbors to turn their porch lights on, lock their doors and windows and step outside to get together with other families in their neighborhood.
The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
National Night Out is designed to strengthen neighborhoods, increase crime prevention awareness, develop partnerships between law enforcement and members of the community and to send a message to the criminals letting them know that West U neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime.
Anyone interested in hosting an event can contact Community Resource Officer Wilson at the West University Place Police Department by calling 713-662-5866 or by e-mailing kwilson@westu.org.
