West U Police Reminds Drivers To Use Caution Now That School Is In Session

August 23, 2010 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

School is back in session today and the West U Police Department is reminding all drivers to use “common sense” when driving through school zones.
Police Chief Ken Walker reminded drivers to drive carefully, not recklessly, on the way to school. It only takes a few extra seconds and it’s worth it, he said.
“Don’t be stupid,” Walker said. “It’s not worth the life of a child.”
It’s illegal to use cell phones in school zones in West University Place and “it’s irresponsible,” Walker said.
Drivers using cell phones in school zones face a ticket of up to $200.
