West University voters have until 7 p.m. today (Saturday) to cast their ballots for mayor and four members of City Council in the city’s bi-annual general election.
There are three nearby polling places, but registered voters can use any county location, available at harrisvotes.com. The sample ballot can also be viewed there.
The local sites are the City Council chambers at West University City Hall, 3801 University Blvd.; Southside Place City Hall, 6309 Edloe St.,; and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 5308 Buffalo Speedway.
Two candidates are squaring off for mayor, incumbent Susan Sample and Councilmember John Barnes. There are five candidates for the four council seats — incumbents Shannon Carroll and John Montgomery, along with Clay Brett, Matt Hart and Buckley Morlot.
According to the Harris County elections office, 1,495 voters cast their ballots during the early voting period.
