The Wier Park Playground, 3012 Nottingham, will close Aug. 25 and is estimated to remain closed through Sept. 8. The closure is due to the replacement of the playground equipment, picnic tables, benches and trash receptacles.
This project will cost approximately $160,000 and will be funded entirely by Friends of West University Place Parks Inc. and their benefactors. Wier Park is the first of a total of five playground renovation projects scheduled over the next five years.
The basketball court, tennis courts and green space at Wier will remain open to the public.
