Winter Basketball Program For Teens Looking For Athletes

November 17, 2008 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

The Jewish Community Center is looking for players ages 12-18 to join the Marvin Blumenthal traveling team. The Marvin Blumenthal League, which consists of a varsity team comprised of 16-18-year-old boys and a JV team of 14-15 years old, is made up of JCC members who do not play basketball with their respective high schools.

Both teams will play in the Bellaire Recreational League, which consists of scheduled weekly games either at the JCC or at the Bellaire Recreation Center. Practices will also take place once a week, usually on Sundays, throughout the season. The first game should be in January and the season will conclude the first week in March with a season ending tournament for both age groups.

This season, the varsity team will travel to take part in the Marvin Blumenthal tournament, where the team will play against numerous JCC’s from the United States. Try-outs will be at the JCC, 5601 S Braeswood Blvd., from 6:15-7:45 p.m. Dec. 2 and 10:30 a.m.-noon Dec. 7.

For more information, contact Sergio Rosenhek at 713-729-3200 ext. 3243 or srosenhek@jcchouston.org.
