The West University Little League Junior 14s All-Stars had their summer season come to an end Wednesday morning in Tyler with a heartbreaking 13-12 loss to Bridge City in 10 innings at the Texas East Little League State tournament at Faulkner Park.
The win by Bridge City, which won the District 32 tournament and Section 1 tournament, sends the team to the Southwest Regionals starting this Saturday in Colorado. The winner of the Southwest Regional tournament will then advance to the Juniors World Series in Taylor, Michigan, set for the middle of next month.
For West University, the Juniors pushed BC to the limit after forcing a second game under the double-elimination format by winning a thriller over Bridge City on Tuesday night.
The WULL 14s were the District 16 and Section 3 champions before the Texas East state tournament. At state, they lost twice to Bridge City, giving up 13 runs in each of those games.
