February 5, 2010 by Essentials Staff Leave a Comment

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the Houston Zoo is offering several special events: One for little “princesses” and two for those hoping to celebrate the holiday with more mature fare.
The Zoo will start out the holiday weekend with a Feb. 13 princess-themed event, “Princess Day: A Benefit for Frog Conservation.” Kids are invited to dress in princess attire as they enjoy a fancy tea party while learning about endangered Houston toads. Tickets range from $25 to $35 and are available on the Zoo’s Website. All proceeds benefit frog conservation.
Later on the evening of Feb. 13, the zoo invites adults age 21 and up to a “Wild for Love” dinner and lecture. Attendees will eat a three-course gormet meal, and after dinner Houston Zoo Director Rick Barongi will lead a lecture about courtship in the animal kingdom. Tickets cost $60 for Zoo members, and $70 for non-members. Visit the Zoo Website for more information.
Another adults-only event kicks off around 11 a.m. on Valentine’s Day. A brunch of ham, grits, grillades and more will be served, and guests can mingle with animals and their keepers during the event. Tickets range from $38 to $45 and are available on the Zoo’s Website.
