Houston ISD has extended its shutdown through Friday (Feb. 19) — with campuses closed and no online classes being offered. Extracurricular activities, athletic events and food distribution has also been canceled for the remainder of the week.
Here is the district’s statement, issued midday Wednesday:
Due to ongoing power issues and the impact on many families, HISD’s schools and offices will remain closed through Friday, February 19. There will be no virtual or in-person learning. Employees will not report to work, unless informed by their supervisor. Additionally, all athletic events and food distributions for Friday and the weekend are cancelled.
