Houston ISD has extended its shutdown at least two more days — with classes completely canceled Wednesday and Thursday (Feb. 17-18) — and will evaluate and announce later whether asynchronous learning will take place Friday.
All athletic and extracurricular events are also canceled, as well as the district’s food distributions.
Under asynchronous learning, students log into the district’s online learning HUB and check for assignments posted by their teachers. Under the district’s new policy for late work, students may also complete and submit earlier assignments.
Here is the statement issued Tuesday morning:
All HISD schools & offices remain closed on Wed, 2/17 & Thurs. 2/18. There will be no virtual or in-person instruction, employees will not report to work. If conditions permit, students transition to asynchronous virtual learning Fri. 2/19 and staff will work remotely.
